Requirements

  • SimplePlanes 2 0.7.9
  • BepInEx 5 (5.4.x, x64 Mono build) installed in the game folder. On Linux/Steam Deck with Proton, add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command% to the game's launch options.
  • No mod needs another one. The Gravy Mod Menu is recommended: it's where most mods put their in-game settings and status (Extreme Weather's event buttons are only there). Without it, edit the .cfg files in BepInEx/config/.

Known issues

Show all known issuesHide known issues

The most important limitations. Each mod's page lists all of its own under "Known limitations".

General

  • Works with SimplePlanes 2 0.7.9. If a game update changes something a mod relies on, that feature switches itself off with a line in the BepInEx log (BepInEx/LogOutput.log) instead of breaking the game; the rest keeps working. Include the log when you report a problem.
  • Air Traffic, Sea Traffic, the Classic Islands, Night Traffic and Ambient Sounds' harbours only support the main SP2 map.
  • The pack's sounds (Air Traffic, Sea Traffic, Extreme Weather, Ambient Sounds, Sound Barrier) follow the game's master volume but bypass its mixer, so its sound-effect volume doesn't apply; each mod has its own volume setting. Cockpit and underwater muffling are imitated.
  • Lights drawn as glows (Air Traffic, Sea Traffic, Night Traffic, Airport Lights) are dimmed by a cloud deck as a whole rather than hidden cloud by cloud, and don't light up what's around them.
  • Some of the Extra Settings in the Gravy Mod Menu are experimental; use them with care.

Multiplayer

  • Air Traffic's traffic is local: each player with the mod sees their own, nobody else sees it, and online it has no colliders. Sea Traffic's ships and boats exist only on the host's computer.
  • Players without the Classic Islands mods see you flying over open ocean where an island is.
  • Extreme Weather's funnels, waves, snowfall and storm clouds are only drawn for the host; other players only get the storm sky if the host turns on Share Weather With Players.
  • Players without Passenger Seats see passengers standing rather than sitting.
  • More Players: public servers with more than 10 slots don't show in the server browser of players without the mod (they can join by invite). Not yet tested with a full lobby.

Per mod

  • Air Traffic: airliners fly precomputed paths, so a hit airliner explodes rather than falling. Lightweight airliners show gear down or up rather than animated, and flaps don't move. Taxi routes come from probing the ground, so an aircraft can clip a thin post.
  • Sea Traffic: the carrier's catapults, arresting wires and elevators don't work. The big ships don't avoid each other, and they anchor off harbours rather than entering them.
  • Extreme Weather: snow only covers the terrain, not buildings, runways or crafts. Cloud wetting on the glass follows the game's live cloud cover, but its patches don't match the exact cloud shapes you see. Lightning flashes are glows over the clouds.
  • Classic Islands: an island's terrain loads in one frame, so expect one short hitch when it streams in (far away, by default). Moving an island doesn't move the breadcrumbs or the easter eggs.
  • Night Traffic: islands added by other mods have no road data, so they get no traffic or street lights. Day cars are simple shapes up close.
  • Flight Map: the route autopilot depends on the craft; unusual crafts (VTOLs, helicopters) may wander. Autoland is experimental and leaves the flare and touchdown to you.
  • Instant Replay: watching is single player only. Characters on foot, explosions, smoke, weapons fire and sound aren't recorded.
  • Graphics Plus: while TAA runs, camera movement still blurs; use SMAA with motion blur (as Cinematic does).
  • Tree Distance: uses about 70 bytes of graphics memory per tree on loaded islands (about 70 MB for a big forested island).
  • Space: only the sky changes (no curved horizon or orbital physics). Other players don't see your jet flame out.
